In this collection, I relaxed with melody, thinking that the process of experimenting with sound and composition needn’t be about being scared of being pretty, or melodic or whatever …. Probably more classic(ishly) ambient (ish) than other stuff I have done. All assembled on my trusty MacBook Pro with the usual palimpsest of loops, drones, found sounds, keyboards and reheated treatments. I was a bit taken by what flutes do, how pianos decay and darkened by adventures with brain tumours, looking for peaceful space.

I remember being 14 years old playing single piano notes and listening to them decay and oscillate … and those notes that went on forever in the Obscure Records version of Gavin Bryars “Sinking of the Titanic”.

The HD title comes from not bothering with titles and naming pieces after distant stars and date codes.
