about

Side A - started off with the two of us rehearsing at Hijack’s… mTee had been working on some beats that fitted together nicely & made some lamp shade samples that added spice and all that wedged together with an extended string pad breakdown. This provided us with one full length piece. We could build a set off the back of this! So this track became a staple for us live with its furtive start out & gliding wind up. It has a gleeful snowball effect that just keeps on opening outwards from its tight-woven origins.

This opener was mostly recorded at the Pharmacy in Islington, which on that occasion included some extra grunt from Michael’s pug ms-20 blockout. The breakdown was recorded at a join the dots show. It transitions through a burpee ride into royal ambient serenity with a bit of close-up spice. I think it would have made little difference if we recorded this at home, in a rehearsal room or live in an art gallery, apart from the flow of adrenalin. It’s a very live sounding track that holds its spontaneity amid its plan structure and jam elements.

Side B – is less linear and more soundscape noise oriented.

Skrying Table is a bubbling cocktail that could be below deck with its swaying counter-balance modulations.

King Frosty actually was recorded in a local art gallery and has that kind of set your stuff up on the floor vibe. It’s one of our favourites, it’s got a groove.

The last track Galaxtapuss is a cartoon playhouse mangle. It’s a totally oversaturated live recording from the old Disco Beans, Northcote, we couldn’t shake it off. So what the heck it’s going in there.
