about

This project collects 3 hours of retreat music I have put together over the last thirty years. It is my personal 'internal world' music, somewhat droney at times and mostly uneventful.

Part One was 1.1 to 1.12 was recorded in 1982 at the M Squared studio in Sydney. Was intended for release as the third A Cloakroom Assembly cassette. Then I changed my mind. Though I think some cassettes leaked out. 12 pieces were recorded for this collection in this version. The 12th piece which was a reworking of 'Fossil Crash Sleeping' from Tom Tom Tom cassette has been excluded from this collection because it was rubbish.

Part Two 2.13 to 2.25 was recorded in Fairlight and Seaforth in 1993 - a return to more 'late at night' personal music spaces after six years of touring in a more conventional rock style ensemble - hence again 'Retreat'

A selection of tracks from Part 1 and 2, appear on the VOD Vinyl boxed set "Pardon me for barging in like this" www.vinyl-on-demand.com/RELEASES_2009-2-305.htm Also on the "41 Pardons" M Squared CD released on Ascension in Australia in March 2010.

Part Three 3.26 to 3.29 were recorded in Warriewood during 2014 as a more extended exploration of the those retreat spaces, as I came out to play in the real world again.

Someday I would like to release Parts 1 - 3 complete, as a boxed vinyl set. But there isn't really much interest out there for ACRA, so its up here on Bandcamp as the complete Retreat .... hope you like it.

All feedback welcome.
