SPOTLIGHT
A spotlight collection of sonic incense, meditations, imaginary spaces and extensions of a postman body. Selected from the A Cloakroom Assembly archives, reaching out to you, taken out of context and reframed from their original location and purpose.

REFRAMED
Something happens when we make sounds and then later, another person listens to it. The sounds get up and walk by themselves, separated yet also extended from the author, taking on a new meaning or imagined space (maybe not what was originally intended).

I think over time A Cloakroom Assembly has become less assembly and post production and more towards the concept of performance. Nowadays almost everything is done in first takes, what happens ... happens. I am more interested in versions, variations, danger and fuck ups than trying to get it right and nail it. It is too easy nowadays to be bland and perfect, I prefer the rough diamonds to the polished turds. There are lots of things that are 'wrong' with these recordings, but that was what I chose to do at the time and I can live with all the errors as a 'performance'. Maybe I would make different choices playing these pieces today.
