Time Machines

When I used to smoke, I sometimes thought of a cigarette as a ‘time machine’.
Sometimes a cigarette would buy you time while you gathered your thoughts or waited to make a point.
Sometimes it was a way to pass ten minutes away.
Sometimes it made the world stop.
Sometimes it brought you closer to death with each inhale.

Sometimes you would get lost in time and thought and hours would pass away within the minutes of smoking.

These little time machines are like that, imagined spaces and distortions in time.

Not for people with short attention spans.
