marcello donadello In a parallel dimension, Zappa's voice “come(s) from nowhere” to sing for Snakefinger; there, Wall Of Voodoo were fronted by Molly Harvey; Tuxedomoon and Wire merged in a single posse...
and then there's OUR universe, where all of this was ACTUALLY done by a single crew.
Coltrane moves both directions at once from the middle of a sentence; this band applied the rule starting from the centre of an asterisk. Crazy, endless creativity - a snapshot of history, but timeless. Yes: serious FUN

about

This is a long overdue expanded version of "Whats a Quaver ?" and "Such a Dutchman" by Ya Ya Choral (YYC) between 1982-84.

This version of YYC were so much better live than on record. We needed help, to fully realise our potential, before we ran out of energy. So we just had our instincts. When the three of us got together on a stage something magic happened. People loved us or hated us. But we certainly had lots of attention.

We demoed all of our songs in 1982, but lost the tape. Our original plan was to stagger release three 12"EP's, with our stronger songs on the third EP. 'Whats a Quaver' was our first. Then we parted ways. We self sabotaged.

When I listen to this in 2023, I am astounded by our courage as 20 year old puppies. YYC was really political, doing it 'our' way, as an 'up yours' to toxic male rock traditions, to the fascist body politics and rock star narcissism. We were just being silly, stupid , playing with the world of ideas. Boys and girls could do art, and it didn't need to be compared to stupid male knucklehead music.

It was a different world back then.

Fiona and Patrick are no-longer with us, I love them dearly. I hope you appreciate my tribute to their legacy x

Cheers

Michael Tee

PS There is a YYC insert that I am trying to find which will appear as as an attachment to this when i find it. Keep watching.
